Clinton Signs AIDS Financing Pledge

This is an article from the New York Times. Hillary pledged 50 Billion dollars toward AIDS research by the year 2013. It shows that Hillary Clinton is more than willing to spend the taxpayers money on anything and everything that she thinks will get her elected. I certainly appreciate funding for things like AIDS research. But I believe private donations from organizations like the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation does a wonderful job in this arena. In her defense it does seem like she was pressured by militant gay community in pledging everyone else's money. But she's more than willing to spend everyone else's money. Maybe they can have a 'gay tax' to pay for it since that lifestyle results in AIDS at a greater proportion than any other lifestyle choice.

Again, I am not saying that the search for a cure and treatment for AIDS is a bad thing. I just wish that Hillary did not think that spending everybody else's money was the most important thing she could do. I would applaud her much more if she put some of her own money toward this noble cause instead of pledging everybody else's. The main problem with Hillary is the tax and spend nature of her ideas. Like Rudy said in one debate 'We can't afford them all'. The article makes Hillary look good, but I'll let you be the judge of whether or not it is a good thing to be doing with our tax dollars. I am certain I will have plenty of posts about Hillary spending everybody else's money without a second thought. Enjoy the article.

Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton just signed a pledge that commits the next president to investing $50 billion by 2013 to combat AIDS around the world. She is also planning to deliver a formal policy on AIDS.

Gay and lesbian activists have been asking the presidential candidates to sign the pledge, which is being circulated by a global AIDS alliance.

Among the Democratic candidates, only Bill Richardson had signed the pledge. John Edwards and Barack Obama have issued AIDS plans and have agreed to many of the pledge’s goals but have not signed it.

ACT UP, a coalition of gay and lesbian activists, had been planning a demonstration against Mrs. Clinton on Tuesday in Philadelphia, where the Democratic presidential candidates are meeting for a debate. Some activists had been complaining that she had not signed the pledge.
